This project takes as a starting point the definition
of the monument as an artifact understood to be an exemplar of some natural,
historical or personal significance, or as some-thing that endures in the
memory. Individuals including a politician, MUNI driver, city architect,
police detective and a travel agent select and locate what they believe
to be the four most important monuments in the city of San Francisco.
Photographs of participants and written transcriptions about their selections
will be displayed alongside the visual documentation of the selected monuments.
